Creating a Persona

How do I create a Persona using Cintell?

There are two easy ways to create Personas in Cintell. First, log in to Cintell, and you’ll see your Persona Dashboard. Welcome home!

  1. To create a persona using our step-by-step wizard, select “Create Persona Using the Wizard.” We built this with the help of persona experts. You can customize these fields as much as you’d like.
  2. To build a persona from a template you design, select “Create Persona Using a Template.” You can edit the contents of this template and save it for re-use.

You will be presented with a list of sections and characteristics to use in building your custom personas. Once you’ve filled in these values and save, your persona will be available from the Persona Dashboard to edit, publish and socialize in your organization, or just to admire. Good work.

What are “Product Settings” and why do I need to create them before creating a Persona?

Cintell organizes your Personas by the product(s) they are associated with. The first step in the Persona creation process is to enter the names of your products or services into the Cintell platform.

I am creating a Persona using the Wizard and I see some categories of information that do not apply to my business. How do I remove them from my Persona?

No problem. Simply click the “Skip this section” button and it will not be included in your Persona.

Can I add a new attribute to an existing section?

Yes, at the bottom of each section, you will see an option to “Add Attribute”. This allows you to add a new attribute, name it, and select a type (such as text area, checkboxes, etc). When you are creating an attribute with multiple options (for example, a drop down) you can also provide the supported values here.

Can I add a new section, while creating a Persona using the Wizard?

What an awesome idea! It’s on our roadmap, and as a Cintell user you’ll be notified as soon as it’s available.

Can I edit & update my Persona once it’s created?

Yes, you can always revisit a Persona and edit the information – after all, buyers change! To edit a Persona that you previously completed, click “edit” on the View Persona page. To edit a Persona in progress, clicking on that Persona from the Persona Dashboard will take you to the edit screen.

Very soon you will be able to give your Persona a version number, so that you can keep track of the changes you are making and see how your Persona is evolving.

  1. Can I delete a Persona?
    1. Yes, you can delete a Persona by choosing this option on the View Persona page in the Actions section. If any of your colleagues try to access a deleted Persona using the Share URL, they will see a message that the Persona has been deleted.

Researching a Persona

Where do I get the information I need to create a Persona? 

  • Great question! If you haven’t built buyer personas yet, the best way to get to this information is to conduct interviews and primary research. Read this quick primer or view this quick infographic.
  • You’ll want to talk to buyers, internal stakeholders, users and other people involved in making a purchase decision about your product(s). Your Personas represent macro-level trends and patterns across your audience.
  • If you need assistance with this process, please email us at support@cintell.net and we will have our Persona Expert-In-Residence help you.
  • If you have already created Personas in the past, enter the information into Cintell. Email us if you need assistance importing the information. Our recommendation is that you validate the Personas with some primary research before converting them into Cintell Personas.

Sharing Your Personas

How can I share a Persona with my colleagues at work?

On the View Persona screen, you will see a “Share” button. This will create a Web URL that can be shared with your colleagues. We suggest that you use this URL to create hyperlinks from business systems that are used by your colleagues, so that it is easy for them to access.

Do my colleagues need a Cintell account to view a shared Persona?

No, a shared Persona is made available to your colleagues through a secure and custom web URL, visible without a Cintell login. Personas viewed via shared URL are read-only. No changes can be made by your colleagues.

Can my colleagues provide feedback about the Persona?

Great idea! Not today, but this feature is on the roadmap and will be coming soon.

Is there any other way to share a Persona?

Yes, from the View Persona screen you can export a PDF version of your Persona and share with your colleagues.

Can I put my company logo on the PDF?

Great idea! Not today, but this feature is on the roadmap and will be coming soon.

What is the advantage of sharing via URL vs PDF?

If you share using a URL, any updates you publish to the Persona will be automatically available to your colleagues who are using the Persona. In a PDF version, the data is static and might be outdated soon.

Account & User Management

I filled in the account sign up form but, I did not get an activation email from Cintell.

Please check all your email folders to ensure that the email was not automatically put into a subfolder. Also check to ensure that the email is not marked as spam by mistake. If you still do not find the email, please email us at support@cintell.net and we will help you.

I forgot my password. How do I retrieve it ?

Click on “Forgot Password” link on the sign in page and provide the email address that you used to sign up. Cintell will send you a link to reset your password. 

I forgot my Username. What should I do?

Your Cintell Username is usually your email address. If you still are having difficulty, contact us at support@cintell.net and we will help you.

How do I change my password?

After you’ve logged in, hover over your username at the top right corner of the screen. Click “Profile” and in this user profile section, you will have access to change your password.

Can I create additional users in my account?

Great idea! Not today, but this feature is on the roadmap and will be coming soon.

Security & Privacy

How secure is our Persona information in Cintell?

We use SSL encryption for Cintell. We are also using very reputed cloud infrastructure provider(s) that ensure us a high level of data security.

Do you share my Personas with other Cintell Users?

No, your Personas are private to users of your Cintell account only, and any colleagues you share it with via PDF or web URL. We do not allow users from other accounts to access your Personas. We also do not mine any data from your Personas. We understand Personas are custom, proprietary and strategic to your business and we will always help to keep it that way.
